Craigslist is a beautiful thing.
After returning home last night from San Diego, I quickly checked my email for a message about the Michael Jackson funeral. Had I won tickets? The answer, devastatingly, was no.
Determined, I logged on to Craigslist where I posted a wanted ad - since I had planned on going by myself and giving away my extra ticket, perhaps there were others out there with the same idea. Even better than that, there were some people who won the ticket lottery who couldn't go at all because of distance/time constraints, and were looking to give away both their tickets. Before midnight (the deadline for redeeming the ticket codes on ticketmaster), I had my voucher printed and instructions on redeeming it for 2 tickets and armbands at Dodgers Stadium today.
I spent some time before bed arranging to take another fan who didn't win tickets. The person who gave me her voucher code, Wendy from http://personalizedfree.com, recommended I give the extra ticket to a girl named Lisa who also posted a plea to craigslist last night. I had other plans, though. One of my twitter friends had posted about not winning tix, so I contacted him with the news. He surprised me, though, and said his sister deserved to go more than him and would I contact her and make arrangements to go with her? Sure, if that's what he wanted.
Turns out she was the previously mentioned Lisa. So, fate works out for the best.
anyway, I'll be at the memorial tomorrow. After I leave the Mazda dealership (getting the scheduled maintenance done today), I'm heading up to Dodgers Stadium to meet with Lisa and get our tickets. I won't know till then whether we're in the Staples Center or Nokia Theatre. Cross your fingers for me that I get into Staples.
At least I'm going. Thank goodness for the generosity of some people. Please check out Wendy's site, she makes great personalized ornaments and telling people about her business is the least I can do for her sweet generosity in sharing tickets she couldn't use on short notice with me.
Thanks, Wendy! |
