About this Entry
coffee love
A few years ago I worked for a company that provided VPN services as an outsourcer for big corporations that for one reason or another didn't want to do it themselves. The job was horrible, but the one shining redeeming factor, and the reason I have often mourned my decision to quit there, was the coffee maker.

I blogged about this at the time, but the stupid little flash video I'd posted has since been removed from its website.

Anyway, the coffee machine. It was a futuristic device meant to make individual servings of coffee. Its strength was its vast variety of single serving coffee pods, called K-Cups (the maker and cups are from a company called Keurig), from which you selected and then inserted the selected cup into the machine, pushed a button, and your perfect, steaming hot coffee would pour automatically into your cup within seconds. No muss, no fuss, just pop out the used K-Cup and toss it in the trash to make room for the next person's selection. At this particular place, they had about 12 selections of coffee and 4 or 5 different teas that you could choose from. And it was free. Pure, unadulterated coffee heaven.

I coveted this system from the beginning. I'm not ashamed to admit it. However, the price on those machines was CRAZY, and so I put it on my list of things I'd get "someday".

Well, they happen to carry one of these wonderful machines at Bed Bath and Beyond, where Adam and I are registered. The price had come down significantly from where I'd seen it years ago, but it's still on the pricey side, but I thought, what the hey. So I added it to our list, half expecting to never see it.

Well, I was wrong. There was a package from BB&B waiting at home for us last night, and inside there were two wrapped boxes. The smaller turned out to contain the 2 packs of K-Cups I'd selected, and as soon as I saw them I freaked out in a good way. Tore into the paper on the second box and then lovingly caressed the box before opening it and setting up the machine. I had the hardest time coming down from a bouncy high for the rest of the evening as I kept giggling and making happy little sighs. Talk about a manic episode.

Check out the demo below. Enjoy!

I think the demo links to other videos contained on Keurig's site, which is why you can't click the links in the video. For the full video, click here: http://www.keurig.com/demo.html

We have those here at work, with about 20 different flavors (including hot cocoa and many teas). Misty gave me some Blueberry ones to try, and though I'm not really a coffee drinker per-se, I keep trying to get them to get Blueberry for us. :)

Blueberry coffee.

And yes, I thought it was a weird concept.

Turns out, it is an awesome concept.

Green Mountain is the brand, Wild Mountain Blueberry is the flavor, if you wanna give it a shot.

The Boy recently purchased the Flavia coffee system, which the B&B we went to had. It is awesome and uses a similar method to make the perfect cup of coffee or tea.
